Street Fighter V introduces new Brazilian fighter

It looks like Brazil is going to get new representation once again when the Street Fighter series debuts its newest installment next year, as Capcom and series producer Yoshinori Ono have officially unveiled the newest character to join the ranks of the World Warriors… And her name is Laura Matsuda!

Visiting the Brazil Game Show, Ono-San finally debuted Laura after a ton of leaks were revealed before her official unveiling.  According to associate producer and Street Fighter player Peter “Combofiend” Rosas, Laura is a grappler who specializes in mind games and controlling electricity, which of course is a nod to the original Brazilian Street Fighter character and fan favorite, Blanka!

What’s interesting about Laura is that she actually has a direct connection to one particular Street Fighter character, and that’s being the older sister of Street Fighter III series veteran Sean Matsuda

Despite being the younger brother of the heir to the “Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu Fighting Style”, Sean is known better as Ken’s student and someone who prefers to play basketball rather than take on the family legacy. It’s not known whether he’ll be back for Street Fighter V, but it’s possible given that 16 characters will make it to the roster for launch and others will follow via DLC somewhere down the line.

Street Fighter v will be released exclusively for PS4 and PC in the first quarter of 2016. — TJD, GMA News
