Is this HTC's next smartphone?

A new smartphone from Taiwan-based HTC may be hitting store shelves soon, if recent posts on a Chinese website are accurate.

 

Chinese site TENAA posted photos of the phone known only as the HTC D728w.

 

UK-based tech site T3.com speculated this could be the HTC Desire 728.

 

T3 said earlier rumours hint at a 5.5-inch display with a HD resolution of 1280x720 pixels, and a 1.3GHz 64-bit octa-core MediaTek processor.

 

However, it also cited a separate rumor indicating the phone could also use a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip.

 

Also, the HTC phone is reportedly to use Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop).

 

Other speculated specifications include:

 

- 16GB storage

- 2GB RAM

- 2,800mAh battery

- 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-MP front-facing sensor
