Luxury car maker Lexus teases real hoverboard

Some 30 years after the movie "Back to the Future 2" featured a hoverboard for fans to drool for, a luxury car maker claims to have finally made a real-life version of the vehicle that can go anywhere.

Late last year, startup company Hendo claimed to have made a working hoverboard, but the device only works on specially-prepared metal surfaces.

Lexus featured a real hoverboard in a video in its “Amazing in Motion” series, Highsnobiety.com reported.

However, the site noted the video showed no one actually riding the hoverboard.

Citing information from Lexus' website, the site said the hoverboard "uses magnetic levitation to achieve amazing frictionless movement."

It also claims to use liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets for the hoverboard.
