Jonny Quest live-action film in the works
Hold on to your childhoods! A live action adaptation of Jonny Quest is making its way to the silver screen (hopefully).
According to a report on Deadline Hollywood, Warner Bros. has set Robert Rodriguez as the director for their latest attempt at bringing the Hanna-Barbera cartoon to life. Rodriguez and Terry Rossio are rewriting a draft script by Dan Mazeau. Dan Lin and Adrian Askarieh are set as producers.
Jonny Quest is the eponymous main character of the 1964 show, a kid who travels around the world on world-saving missions with his scientist father Benton Quest, their bodyguard/government agent Race Bannon, Jonny’s best friend Hadji, and Jonny’s pet dog Bandit. According to the Hollywood Reproter, the series was created and designed by Doug Wildey, and was revived in the 1980s after being cancelled because it was too expensive to produce.
Previous attempts at making a live action series included a version where Zac Efron was slated to play Jonny and Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson was slated to play Race Bannon. — Bea Montenegro/TJD, GMA News
