LOOK: A sneak peek at ‘Attack on Titan’ live action movie

“Attack on Titan,” or “Shingeki no Kyojin,” is one of the biggest things in anime and manga at the moment. Its popularity has prompted not only a range of merchandise from video games to action figures, but also a big screen adaptation, a two-part live action film which should be released sometime this year.

A few months back, we got a glimpse of the movie’s cast. Now, a video has been uploaded on YouTube, courtesy of a certain Dobre Namin, showing some actual footage from the film.

Embedded in a television broadcast, the footage seems to be part of the film’s official trailer. It looks as dark and foreboding as its source material (if not more so), which should please fans of both the anime and manga, and perhaps even attract new audiences. So far, the special effects look believable, and the Colossal Titan is terrifying.

As amazing as the Colossal Titan looks, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the monsters in a live action setting. A Subaru commercial previously showcased them in action.

Directed by Shinji Higuchi, the movie stars Mizuhara Kiko as Mikasa and Miura Haruma as Eren. It will also feature three new characters: Fukushi, Hiana, and Lil, played by Shu Watanabe, Ayame Misaki, and Rina Takeda respectively.
