Pangasinan govt hospital opens new CT Scan facility

Residents in Pangasinan can now avail of more affordable health care with the first CT (computed tomography) scan facility at the government-run Pangasinan Provincial Hospital.

The provincial hospital's new CT scan facility was inaugurated on Tuesday, GMA Dagupan's Joanne Ponsoy reported on GMA Dagupan's "Primera Balita" Wednesday.

"(Before Tuesday), nag-a-average kami ng five patients a day, pinapagawa namin sa labas 'yan. Alam nyo naman ang mga CT Scan dito, ang meron lang private hospitals," said Dr. Policarpio Manuel, Pangasinan Provincial Hospital's chief of hospital.

The new CT scan system is the product of a public-private partnership.

With the new facility, patients can avail of CT scans at a lower rate, which could go even lower if the patient is a PhilHealth member.

Manuel indicated the minimum rate is P3,500.

A CT Scan is an imaging method using X-rays to take pictures of body sections. They can help diagnose medical problems and guide surgeons.

Aside from the CT scan facility, the provincial hospital already has a digital X-ray machine. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
