LOOK: This retro word processor lets you live your novelist dreams

If you've ever fancied yourself a novelist or a modern-day Hemingway, then this retro machine might just be the tool for you.

Introducing the Hemingwrite, a composition device that supports cloud backups and integration into document editors like Google docs and Evernote.

Yet beneath its vintage look and feel, this ode to typewriters of yore sports some pretty modern tech: it even has Wi-Fi, so you can wirelessly upload your work to the cloud.

The device's creators envision it as a "Kindle of writing composition," where owners can take it to a remote area away from the Internet and type away.

"The Hemingwrite is designed to aid both the new and established writer by providing a robust writing tool that completely removes all distraction from our daily connected lives. Wifi connectivity has been included to sync to the cloud but without a browser or email client there will be no playing angry birds or checking email. The Hemingwrite is designed for one thing and one thing only: putting words on a page," they said.

Hemingwrite has a battery life of about six weeks, and a memory of about one million pages.

On the other hand, it has a throwback touch with high-quality mechanical keyboard switches and old-style knobs for choosing folders and Wi-Fi options.

But then again, the Hemingwrite does not have the distractions of older devices such as typewriter ribbons, or jammed hammers.

Hemingwrite has a six-inch e-ink screen, a die-cast aluminum case, and boasts low power consumption.

It weighs about four pounds.
