McFarlane Toys set to release ‘Walking Dead’ Clem figure

Fans of Telltale Games' epic episodic video game adaptation of “The Walking Dead” will be thrilled to learn that one of the series' most iconic figures is getting an action figure of its own, as the developer revealed at this year’s New York Comic Con that a Clementine figure is being made and is on the way.

To be sculpted and released by McFarlane Toys, Clementine will appear as she did in the recently concluded Season 2 of the series, wearing her trademark baseball cap sporting a purple shirt, and coming with her own weapons and backpack as accessories. The figure will have two variants – one clean and the other bloodied to replicate her encounters with the undead and the dangers of living in a harsh new world brought about by the zombie apocalypse. While no release date has been given for the figure, Telltale has promised fans that it will be available “soon.”

Set in the same world as the comic book series created by Robert Kirkman, “The Walking Dead: The Game” started in 2012 and followed the adventures of Lee Everett – a man convicted of murder who is thrust into the middle of the zombie apocalypse as it begins. He soon finds himself caring for a young girl named Clementine, who becomes his moral compass as he meets other survivors and struggles to find safety from both the undead and the living. Tragically, Lee does not survive the end of the first season, giving his last moments to find and save Clementine and then asking the latter to end his life to prevent his reanimation after being infected from a zombie bite.

Following the success of Season 1, Telltale Games continued the story with “The Walking Dead: Season 2” and made Clementine the new protagonist of the series. Set more than a year later, Clem has now become more hardened and experienced in her journey, struggling to survive while also befriending a new group of survivors.

As with all of their games, the choices made in Telltale Games’ Walking Dead games affect the outcome of the player’s journey. Every decision and response leads to a different outcome in the following situation and episode, and it dictates whether or not there will be a happy ending or not when everything is said and done. It is through this formula that the series has won numerous awards, including “Game of the Year” from Spike’s annual Video Game Awards show in 2012. — TJD, GMA News
