Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, tablet debut in Philippines

Lenovo announced the two newest additions to its ThinkPad line of products; the ThinkPad 8 tablet and the ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop. In a press launch on September 22, the company unveiled the laptop and tablet duo locally as part of their "PC Plus" project.

The carbon-fiber casing of the ThinkPad X1 renders it virtually indestructible. Its screen measures 14 inches, and its total weight is only 2.8 pounds. It has an adaptive keyboard that displays customized function keys, depending on the program in use. The battery is based on lithium-polymer technology, and can go from 0 to 80% charge in less than 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, the ThinkPad 8 tablet can be hooked up to a ThinkPad OneLink Dock that allows it to interface with an external monitor and keyboard for a desktop setup. When you need to be on the go again, you can simply disconnect the ThinkPad 8 from the dock.

“Lenovo continues to push the envelope of design and innovation by creating smart products that address users’ mobility, flexibility as well as need for content creation be it at home or at work,” said Michael Ngan, Country General Manager of Lenovo Philippines.

“The ThinkPad 8’s multi-mode design and extreme portability and the ThinkPad X1 Carbon’s professional display and new interactive methods are a testament to Lenovo’s continuous pursuit towards perfection as it advances in the PC Plus era.”

The starting price for the X1 is P 105,000.00 and the SRP for the ThinkPad 8 is P 25,490. Both gadgets have a Windows 8 operating system. They are available at the SM North EDSA Think Exclusive Store, Lenovo Exclusive Stores, and Lenovo Corporate Resellers across the country. — TJD, GMA News
