Knight Rider returns in Samsung Smart Home ad

The original smart car has come back from the past, to make a pitch for the smart home of the future—or ruin it completely.

Samsung tapped David Hasselhoff to pitch its connected Smart Home, but it was his old smart-aleck sports car sidekick who nearly stole the show.

KITT, who co-starred with Hasselhoff in the 1980s series "Knight Rider," would seemingly foil each pitch Hasselhoff makes for the smart home.

"I've been connected since 1982," K.I.T.T. said in the ad, referring to the show's debut in September that year.

But Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight in the 1980s hit show, would have the last laugh.

SamsungTomorrow's description of the video indicates K.I.T.T. is "none too pleased" with the Smart Home.

"Can one jealous car ruin it all? The answer is a very strong maybe," it said.

Tech site Mashable described the ad as "humorous and shows off the capabilities of a smart home, while playing up Hasselhoff's ability to be tongue-in-cheek about himself and his past characters."

Mashable said the ad was created by R/GA for Samsung. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
