Flopsy Droid: It's Flappy Bird, but on your wrist!

Itching to play "Flappy Bird" but your smartwatch's screen is too small? Fear not, there's a (clone) app for that.

Meet "Flopsy Droid," the first "Flappy Bird"-type game optimized for Android smartwatches and wearables.

"(This is) fine-tuned to be playable on Android Wear devices. (i.e. You need to have an Android Wear device paired with your Smartphone in order to enjoy Flopsy Droid)," developer Sebastian Mauer said.

Check Flopsy Bird out in the Google Play store.

The difference from the original "Flappy Bird" game? Instead of maneuvering a bug-eyed, 8-bit bird through a maze of pipes, the player maneuvers a green robot through a maze of pipes - on a much smaller screen, of course.

Mauer described "Flopsy Droid" as "(a)n experimental game inspired by a certain other Bird-based Game." He made the code available on Github.

"Flopsy Droid," published July 7, is a 3.8-MB download.

First unofficial port

Love it or hate it, a separate article on 9to5google.com said "Flopsy Droid" has the distinction of being "the first unofficial Flappy Bird port for Android Wear devices."

"The app brings the bird-and-pipe experience to the LG G Watch, Moto 360 and other Android Wear devices, with the same one-tap controls as the original version. The only difference is that Flopsy Droid is designed for markedly smaller screens," it said. — Joel Locsin / TJD, GMA News
