Life-size R2-D2 replica roams the grounds of NexCon Manila
Tiny Panganiban wanted to make a simple R2-D2 robot that could give out candy for Halloween, but after doing a bit of research, he decided to make a life-size replica.
This beloved robot character from the Star Wars franchise roamed this year's NexCon Manila held in Bayanihan Center in Pasig City.
It took seven years and a lot of money to create, said Panganiban, a member of the R2-D2 Builders Club.
"Parts can get expensive that's why it took that long," he said in an interview with GMA News Online.
"It's made of aluminum. The feet are steel because I use them to open doors and stuff so it needs to be really sturdy," he said.
The total cost of making this life-size replica? "I stopped adding the bills when it hit $10,000 dollars," Panganiban said. — Kim Luces/JDS, GMA News
