The Flash debuts in teaser trailer

The second season of Arrow may be over, but the future is looking mighty bright for The CW’s highly successful superhero TV Series for its upcoming third season AND the new spinoff property that features a certain Scarlet Speedster running with his own show.

Following the release and conclusion of the final episode “Unthinkable”, The CW attached its very first teaser and first look at Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/ The Flash, in a short “meeting of heroes” video that sees Arrow star Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen/ The Arrow coming face-to-face with the Fastest Man Alive himself.

The video opens with The Arrow walking on an open grassy area towards a lone tree with a target board, and after firing one of his signature arrows, in comes the Flash to zoom in and catch it before it can hit its mark. The Scarlet Speedster then shouts in an arrogant and triumphant manner, with Arrow just shaking his head and saying “Show Off”. The video then moves to showing a The Flash title card and announcement for release sometime this Fall, and ends with one final face off between both heroes, as Arrow prepares three projectiles to shoot and Flash simply saying “Game On”.

Now if that didn’t get fans excited at the prospect of the upcoming new superhero show, who knows what will.

Since appearing in the episodes “The Scientist” and “Three Ghosts” in the second season of Arrow, Glee star Grant Gustin has been successfully introduced as Barry Allen as well as experiencing his “freak accident” that endowed him with strange yet fantastic powers. Now audiences finally get to see him in action in the newly designed Flash suit for The CW series, which was also designed by Arrow costume designer Colleen Atwood. Original 1990 The Flash TV Series star John Wesley Shipp has also been cast in an unspecified guest appearance role, thereby bringing the new series full circle with its predecessor.

Released by The CW, the official synopsis of The Flash reads as follows:

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.
