Original Prince of Persia sequel now out for mobile users
By TIM G. VILLASOR
Time has been kind to Jordan Mechner’s epic platform adventure game wonder, Prince of Persia. The game has been ported, remade, and given a new lease on life thanks to the numerous games and spin-offs based on the 1989 classic.
However, way back in 1993 saw the very first sequel to the Broderbund original, with the release of Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame.
20 years after its release in platforms such as MS-DOS, SNES, and even Xbox, The Shadow and the Flame is making a comeback, this time as a High-Definition remake for Mobile Devices and Smartphones. The game now sports 3D visuals and a new combat system that utilizes weapons and unlocks combos for the player to take advantage of.
Continuing the events of the first game, The Shadow and the Flame takes place eleven days after the end of the original PoP, with the prince having defeated the evil Jaffar and saving the princess. However, as soon as he asks her hand in marriage, the evil Vizier reappears in disguise and turns the prince into a beggar, casting him out and sending him into exile. After narrowly escaping, the Prince begins a new journey in order to redeem his life and stop the evil wizard once and for all.
Using the same look of the Prince as he appeared in the Prince of Persia Trilogy, the game is now available for purchase and download via iTunes and Google Play.
If you enjoy action and adventure games and love Prince of Persia and want to revisit a classic, this is definitely worth looking up. — VC, GMA News
