Angry Birds multi-device syncing now available

Angry Birds have taken to the cloud, offering their legions of fans the ability to save and play games across different internet-connected devices.

Rovio, the creator of the Angry Birds franchise, said the new syncing feature can be activated through a player's Rovio Account.

"Our fans have been asking for a way to play their game on different phones or tablets without losing their progress when changing the device. This is exactly what Rovio Account lets you do!" it said.

For now, Rovio Account is available in The Croods game globally, and in the classic Angry Birds game on iOS in Finland and Poland.

It said it will gradually roll out Rovio Account to more areas in the future and also add new features.

A separate article on The Next Web said this may be a bid to increase gamers' engagement.

"(T)he move makes sense from a business perspective since creating user accounts gives Rovio a way to increase its touch points with users, and also help them move on to other Rovio games. To date, it has struggled to recreate the success of Angry Birds with other franchises, and this step may help some its less-loved games gain traction," it added.

But it said the immediate "benefit" would be no more having to play the same levels over and over on different devices.
