GMA Integrated News' Sr. Business Development Manager Justin Joyas has been accepted in the inaugural cohort of JournalismAI's Southeast Asia Academy programmed supported by Google News Initiative.
This year marks the first time in JournalismAI's four-year history to focus specifically on the region.
"With this year’s focus on Southeast Asia, the programme continues to build on its mission of enabling smaller newsrooms to adapt to an evolving media landscape," JournalismAI said on its website.
From 68 applications, 20 participants were selected across Southeast Asia, aiming to equip newsrooms with practical tools to integrate Artificial intelligence into their organizations.
Joyas is one of four journalists accepted from the Philippines.
They are joined by representatives from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
JournalismAI is a project of Polis – the journalism think-tank at the London School of Economics and Political Science – and it's supported by the Google News Initiative.
The fellowship will start this month and will continue until February.
