Magnitude 5.3 earthquake recorded offshore Davao Occidental

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred on Sunday morning offshore Davao Occidental, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The quake struck at 8:49 a.m. with epicenter at 03.31°N, 125.78°E - 237 km S 9° E of the municipality of Sarangani.

It had a depth of 10 km and was tectonic in origin.

PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected but aftershocks may occur. —KG, GMA Integrated News
