468 aftershocks posted after magnitude 6.8 quake in Surigao del Sur — PHIVOLCS

At least 468 aftershocks have been recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology following the magnitude 6.8 earthquake in Surigao del Sur, according to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Luisito Santos on Saturday.

After the initial earthquake at 6:22 a.m. in Lingig, Surigao del Sur, strong aftershocks reaching up to magnitude 6.1 were recorded.

The magnitude 6.8 earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 9 kilometers.
