Ateneo de Davao students qualify for int'l rocket engineering tourney
Students from the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) made history by becoming the first Filipinos to qualify for the 2024 Spaceport America Cup-Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (SAC-IREC).
Dubbed SIBOL (growth), the AdDU Rocketry Team’s high-powered rocket was deemed fit for launch at the prestigious tournament after passing the Flight Readiness Review (FRR) of 2024 SAC-IREC.
SIBOL is a high-powered rocket capable of carrying an 8.8-pound payload to an altitude of 10,000 feet. It bested around 200 teams from more than 20 countries and is now given the green light to participate in the 10k Commercial Off-the-Shelf category.
The 2024 SAC is slated for June 17 to June 22 in New Mexico, USA.
