Grade 12 students from Batangas win silver at World Robot Games with Prototype Wheelchair

Two Grade 12 students from Paharang Integrated School in Batangas City took home the silver medal for the Innovative Robot category at the 2023 World Robot Games held in Taipei, Taiwan for their prototype wheelchair.

In Martin Javier’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, Aron Moises Ronquillo and Jhomil Claveria said that they were inspired by their desire to help a disabled classmate.

“We saw the need to create an innovation which will improve their quality of life, and also for elderlies, and children with special needs,” Aron said.

“Super satisfied po kami sa robot po namin, madami pong matutulungan if mala-lifescale pa po namin siya,” Jhomil said.

Aside from being remote-controlled, the prototype wheelchair also comes with a variety of features.

“Nagstart po kaming ayusin ang We Alert na September hanggang November. ‘Yung amin pong We Alert is connected to Bluetooth,” Jhomil said.

It even has a convertible bed feature, a medical care hub with a pulse rate sensor, and an alert system for family members.

“Last po is foldable table po for students para po magkaroon sila ng workspace,” Jhomil said.
