Team Philippines tops SEAMO science, math Olympiad for secondary school

It’s a big win for Team Philippines!

At the recently concluded second Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMO) Science and Mathematics Olympiad, students of Colegio San Agustin Makati (CSA), namely Rafael Felipe Viterbo, Eunyou Park, Lakan Diwa Fuentez, and Jodi Vien Mariano, took home the overall champion title in the SEAMO secondary school category, which covers Science, Math, and STEM.

The Team Philippines bested delegates from Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand.

According to Ehprem Nicol Caunca, CSA Student Affairs Coordinator, the students started to train and prepare for the Olympiad as early as October 2022.

Asked what’s the most rewarding part of joining such competitions, Caunca said it’s the joy and pride of representing the Philippines.

“Ang pinakamagandang bahagi ng aming paglahok sa nasabing patimpalak ay ang maging kinatawan ng bansang Pilipinas,” he said.

“Napakaraming delegado mula sa Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam ang aming nakalaban kaya talagang nakakakaba ito,” he added.
