Magnitude 6.6 quake hits southeast of Sarangani —PHIVOLCS
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake was recorded southeast of Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental, early Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
Based on its bulletin, PHIVOLCS said the earthquake, which happened offshore at 4:02 a.m., was tectonic in origin with a depth of focus of 114 kilometers.
Intensity II was reported in Glan and Kiamba in Sarangani province, and in Tupi in South Cotabato
Meanwhile, Intensity I was felt in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Maitum and Malapatan in Sarangani province; and Koronadal City and General Santos City in South Cotabato.
There is no expected aftershocks or damage from the earthquake, according to PHIVOLCS. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
