Philippines No. 1 in percentage of internet users who watch vlogs, global report shows
The Philippines is the runaway topnotcher in terms of the percentage of internet users who watch vlogs each week, the 2023 Global Digital Report put together by Meltwater and We Are Social showed.
According to the report, 55.6% of internet users in the Philippines aged 16 to 64 watch vlogs every week. In distant second place is Indonesia with 33.3% followed by Taiwan (33.2%) and Brazil (33%).
The country is also tops in the percentage of internet users who play video games on any device (95%), stream TV content (97.9%), and watch online videos as learning sources (64%).
In terms of time spent each day on the internet using any device, users in the Philippines are in third place with nine hours and 14 minutes, behind South Africa (9:38) and Brazil (9:32).
The worldwide average is at six hours and 37 minutes.
The report said it featured data from a wide variety of different sources, including market research agencies, internet and social media companies, governments, public bodies, news media, and private individuals, as well as extrapolations and analysis of that data.
Meltwater is a software and online media monitoring company while We Are Social is a creative agency actively involved in social media.
The study showed the Philippines again at the top in terms of the amount of time spent using the internet on mobile phones at five hours and 31 minutes a day. Brazil is at second (5:28) and South Africa is third (5:13).
The study also found the average daily time spent on social media is 2 hours and 31 minutes.
Filipinos, however, spend an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes every day on social media—fourth in usage after Nigeria (4:36), Brazil (3:46) and South Africa (3:44). —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA Integrated News
