These high-tech glasses can help the deaf 'hear' and the blind 'see'
Smart glasses are no longer confined to the realm of science fiction as technology has now given birth to eyewear that can help the deaf "hear" and the blind "see."
XRAI Glass, a company which develops software, has created a pair of glasses that shows subtitles for speech spoken in real-time.
The devices use a software which connects to a smartphone app that creates captions so the wearer can communicate with other people.
"It empowers and resources me to be in the conversation, in the moment," said one of its users.
Meanwhile, Vaughn Valle, a teenage inventor from Visayas, has come up with shades for blind people or those who have poor eyesight.
Vaughn started developing the device, which he called "Vision," back in 2019.
Vision can process visual signals and convert it audio cues to alert the wearer. It can also recognize things and read text.
"Wala naman siyang hard limit as to ilang objects ang made-detect niya, as long as kung anong objects ang maka-classify niya, with a reasonable size," he said.
