Why do squids release black ink? Kuya Kim explains
Squids are tentacled sea creatures that are known to emit black ink, but why do they do so?
According to #KuyaKimAnoNa on “24 Oras” Wednesday, the black ink is the squid’s natural defense mechanism. It releases the dark substance to hide itself from a predator.
Meanwhile, a recent video went viral for showing a giant squid or dalupapa caught by fishermen in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
The giant squid measured “dalawang dipa” or six feet long and weighed 100 kg, according to Benjie Geñoso, one of the fishermen.
Kuya Kim explained that a giant squid could grow up to 33 feet long.
He also said the largest squid caught measured 59 feet and weighed almost 1 ton, and the giant squid’s eyes was among the largest in animal kingdom at 10 inches diameter. – RC, GMA News
