Partial solar eclipse on Father's Day

It looks like even the heavens are celebrating Father's Day, with a partial solar eclipse gracing the sky on Sunday afternoon.

In photos taken by YouScoopers in Metro Manila, the partial solar eclipse showed itself at around 3:30 in the afternoon.

YouScooper John Villanueva Puzon took a photo of the partial solar eclipse in North Caloocan while Samuelle Buenvenida captured a photo in  Las Piñas City.

The sight looks enticing, doesn't it?

However, PAGASA has warned to not look directly into the sun or to use eye protection when you are planning to have a glance at the view since it can damage the eyes.

According to an IMReady report on Saturday, an annular solar eclipse can be seen in certain areas in Africa, China, and Asia.

However, in the Philippines, only a partial solar eclipse can be seen.

During a partial solar eclipse, only a certain portion of the moon’s shadow will fall on the Earth.

Aside from the eclipse, the summer solstice will also occur this Sunday.

The summer solstice is considered to have the longest daytime and the shortest nighttime during the entire year.

This means that daytime this Father’s Day will last for over 13 hours. —JST, GMA News
