Pillars of light spotted in Masbate's night sky
Pillars of light was spotted in Masbate City's night sky and a YouScooper luckily caught it on camera.
According to Jem Cagayan, he spotted a streaks of white lights on Friday evening at 8 p.m. despite cloudy conditions.
The resident of Barangay Dao, Balud, Jem only went out of the house to look for signal, when he saw an eye-catching light that left him in awe.
Jem quickly ran back home to get a camera to take photos of the meteorological phenomenon he had just witnessed.
Last July, the same phenomenon was spotted in Sulu.
The Tausug call the light pillars "Lansuk-Lansuk" or candles. They believe that it can sometimes bring bad luck.
In a scientific context, however, PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario explains, "Ang nangyari kasi dyan, mayroon silang clear skies. 'Yung manipis na cirrus clouds, mayroong ice crystals. 'Yun 'yung nag-reflect ng ilaw galing sa buwan." — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
