UP Diliman industrial designers, chemists, engineers develop sanitation tent design to help curb COVID-19

A team of industrial designers, chemists and engineers from the University of the Philippines Diliman designed a sanitation tent that can be used by establishments to help fight against the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Kyla Mae Tan, a student from UP Diliman who is part of the team, shared the sample design of the sanitation tent on Facebook.

In the caption, they said the tent is "affordable and easy to build."

They also noted that the design will be "open source" and the materials to be used to build the tent are readily available in local hardware stores.

The sanitation tent can be used in hospital entrances, MRT and LRT stations, bus stops, offices, grocery stores and public markets, but they also noted that the tent is not only limited to these places.

The design is still being finalized by the group, but they said that once it is done they will send it to their contacts, local government units (LGUs), and other institutions who can use it.

The group said they will be giving them the design free of charge.

"Once the design is ready to be shared, feel free to disseminate it through your social media accounts."
