Luzon, eastern Visayas earthquakes unrelated —PHIVOLCS

The Luzon earthquake on Monday and the one that hit Eastern Samar less than 24 hours after are unrelated, PHIVOLCS officials said on Tuesday.

Subduction zone po siya," he added, saying the Philippine Sea plate moved into the Philippine archipelago.

He added that the movement of the Philippine trench happened 68 kilometers underground.

Its effects were more widespread but had less impact. —NB, GMA News
