Diwata-1's Pinoy engineers graduate in Japan
Four Filipino engineers who worked directly on the country's first microsatellite just received their masters' degrees from two of Japan's most prestigious universities, according to the DOST's Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology (PCIEERD).
Engr. Kaye Kristine Vergel and Engr. Benjamin Jonah Magallon both received their MS Cosmoscience diplomas on Thursday, March 23.
Meanwhile, Engr. John Leur Labrador and Engr. Ariston N. Gonzales received their MS Aerospace Engineering diplomas from Tohoku University on Friday, March 24.
Both Vergel and Magallon specialized in analyzing vegetation using satellite sensors. Their work is of particular use for monitoring crop health and typhoon damage in the Philippines.
