Soldiers rescue rare Philippine Hawk Eagle

Members of the 85th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army rescued two Philippine Hawk Eagle or lawin in the mountain range of Gumaca, Quezon Province.

The soldiers saw the birds, who looked weak, tied up inside an abandoned hut as they were doing routine operations in the area.

The soldiers took care of the birds for three days until they regained their strength then turned these over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The Philippine Hawk Eagle is endemic to the country and classified as an endangered species. — BAP, GMA News
