Interactive exhibits go live at Philippine Science Heritage Center
Five new interactive digital exhibits have been added at the Philippine Science Heritage Center (PSHC), showcasing developments in science and technology in the country.
The National Scientists Browser lets visitors explore the life, works and contributions, and awards of 41 Philippine national scientists via touchscreen computers.
Two kiosks make up the Be a Biologist display, with a digital microscope and a monitor each. Images of the specimens under the microscopes are projected on the monitor.
Recent developments in Philippine biotechnology are featured in the Pinoy Biotech display. Touching an image of a biotech product or process displays the relevant information about it on the screen.
The piano-inspired Play DNA exhibit illustrates the concept of DNA using musical notes that represent nucleotides. Stepping on the keys of the giant piano allows visitors to create DNA sequences that will displayed on a screen.
The Who’s Who in Philippine Science display showcases recipients of the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) award.
The PSHC is aiming to add more exhibits in the future. The PSHC can be found at the Science Heritage Building inside the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Complex in Bicutan, Taguig and is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
