Make your own 'hologram display' for less than P50
YouTube user American Hacker has created a tutorial on how to turn an old CD case into a tiny hologram display for your smartphone. Aside from the old CD case, you also need a ruler, graphing paper, a glass cutter, tape, and superglue.
Apart from the smartphone, all the materials are readily available from your nearest school supply store for less than P50.

The do-it-yourself display, while not an actual 3D hologram, creates the illusion of one by combining reflections of images on the screen to make the object appear as if it's floating in air.
The effect is similar to that used by fighter pilots in their Head-Up Displays (HUDs) to superimpose tactical information onto the real world. A similar display technique is used in Google Glass to enable users to see and read informaton at the same time.

To make your own "holograms", you can use the Holho Gallery app (downloadable from this link) or try some of these samples (here and here) on Youtube. — Bea Montenegro/TJD, GMA News
