LOOK: View PHIVOLCS' Valley Fault System Atlas online

Since its launch, PHIVOLCS' comprehensive Valley Fault System Atlas has gone viral because it drives home the need for public awareness of Metro Manila's susceptibility to a high-intensity earthquake.

 

Due to high public demand, PHIVOLCS has allowed GMA News Online to share a copy of the atlas below. However, a higher-resolution copy is still available for free download (upon registration) from the PHIVOLCS website.

Places located directly above or within a few meters of a fault line are in most danger of the ground cracking or opening up. However, it should also be noted that a strong earthquake anywhere along the fault system will definitely be felt with the same intensity throughout Metro Manila.
