Students from the Philippine Science High School won recognition for the country at a recently-concluded international science fair in Russia, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

The DFA said the delegation from the PSHS in Diliman was cited for creativity at the 10th International Student’s Science Fair (ISSF) in Moscow from August 8 to 12.

Members of the delegation included Adrielle Theresa Cusi, John Christian Nacpil, and Lizbeth Joy Tan, the DFA said.

Accompanying the PSHS students was teacher-adviser Donna Salve Cornes.

The DFA said the delegation's research, “Development of a Leap Motion Controller-based Program for Finger Range-of-Motion Measurement,” was one of three projects awarded as “Most Creative and Innovative.”

It said the research was among 23 projects in the Biotechnology, Health, and Medicine cluster.

The ISSF is a yearly event that seeks to facilitate networking and information-sharing among students and teachers from various countries in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The 10th ISSF was hosted by the Moscow Chemical Lyceum #3103 (MCL) in collaboration with the Lift to the Future organization and the People’s Friendship University of Russia.

For this year's event, delegates from 25 countries presented 120 projects in both poster exhibitions and roundtable discussions.

Projects were divided into five clusters:

  • Biotechnology
  • Health and Medicine
  • Energy, Engineering and Robotics
  • Information Technology and Telecommunications
  • Sustainability and Environmental Science
