Two days before Yolanda, a govt graphic about storm surges


Most Filipinos know a typhoon's destructive winds. But before the ferocity of super typhoon Yolanda, the now painfully familiar "storm surge"– especially the kind that could flatten a town – was an alien phenomenon to many. 
 
On November 6, two days before Yolanda's landfall,  Gov.ph—the national government's official web portal—posted a detailed and clear explanation in Filipino about what a storm surge is and how to prepare for it.
