What is this meteorological phenomenon spotted in El Nido? Kuya Kim explains

A family vacation in El Nido, Palawan was interrupted when a meteorological phenomenon occurred on the island.

According to Kuya Kim's report in "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, Ginio Marmeto's family was casually enjoying the view of the island when it was suddenly covered by a big cloud.

Some netizens said that the phenomenon might be fog or mist, which are caused by small droplets of water suspended in the cold air due to condensation.

But for DOST-PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda, what happened in El Nido is not a mist or a fog, but rather a squall line.

Jorda also warned that a squall line is dangerous as it is usually accompanied by strong winds that could knock down small vessels.
