Why do chickens crow in the morning?

For many Filipinos, the sound of chickens crowing marks the start of a brand new day.

But can chickens tell the time?

As explained on #KuyaKimAnoNa on “24 Oras” Friday, these bird species have an internal clock which lets them know that morning has arrived.

For these animals, it is their signal to start looking for food.
