Unang Hirit gets #BlessedByThePope

A glimpse of His Holiness Pope Francis was just one of  Unang Hirit's treats to its viewers on Day 1 of the show's much-anticipated Holy Week Special in Vatican and Italy, hosted by none other than Susan Enriquez.

Together with the rest of the Unang Hirit team, Susan greeted viewers "Buon giorno!" from the historical peninsula in Southern Europe.

Highlight of today’s coverage was Susan’s emotional encounter with Pope Francis. Deeply moved by the sight of His Holiness during the Papal Audience, Susan could not help but become teary eyed as she, indeed, felt blessed by the Pope.

The Unang Hirit team also did not miss the opportunity to take snapshots of some of Rome’s picturesque and iconic landmarks, such as the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps or Scalina Spagna, and the Pantheon, given that the city is known for being the most photographed in Europe.

Another unforgettable and fun experience during Day 1 was Susan’s battle with a gladiator! Complete with gladiator gear and costume, she trained and learned various techniques on how to become a real gladiator.

The show also featured Italy’s  famous cuisine—pizza, pasta and gelato for dessert! Delizioso!

Finally, Susan and the Unang Hirit team reached out to fellow Pinoys living and working in Italy, and gave them a taste of home through various pasalubong.

Tomorrow, Unang Hirit’s live special Lenten coverage in Vatican and Italy will continue as Susan and her team, in a rare opportunity, will visit St. Peter's Square, the site of St. Peter's Basilica, where pilgrims flock especially during the Lenten season.
