Ryan Eigenmann's tales of horror
It was past midnight when Ryan Eigenmann and his team toured around Manila City Hall. Everything was pitch black. Then suddenly, an unknown element approached Ryan. He felt a very cold sensation. When he looked back, he was all alone.
This was one of Ryan Eigenmann’s most memorable and creepy experiences when he did the horror reality show “Misteryo.” Since he came from a showbiz clan known for being villains in the movies, everyone thinks he is fearless. But who would think that even Ryan also has a fair share of creepy stories?
A ghost’s hug
Ryan’s visit at the Manila City Hall was unforgettable. While he was alone, doing his usual rounds at the location, he felt something approached him at the back.
“I [thought] it was my other cameraman Gibson trying to get a shot, so I made room for him. Pagkatingin ko wala akong katabi. I looked [and saw] Gibson outside,” Ryan said.
Because of this, he ran swiftly to rejoin his pack and consult their guest psychic and life coach, Stargazer, about his experience. He wanted to make sense out of the confusion. Stargazer’s answer gave him goose bumps.
“She saw na there was this Spanish-looking lady wearing old clothes. It hugged me from behind asking for help because she didn't know why she was still there. I think she knew she was dead pero hindi niya alam bakit hindi sila maka-move on and she felt an attraction to me because I look Spanish,” Ryan said.
That moment, praying was the only thing Ryan and his team could offer for the lonely soul. What was she after? Why was the entity lingering in the Manila City Hall for too long?
Was she just attracted to Ryan or she wanted something else?
Grandma is gone
That incident not Ryan’s first taste of mystery in his life. If he would be asked when was the first time he had a mysterious experience, Ryan would always remember the time when his grandmother was facing her final hours. At the time, he was 10 years old. HIs grandmother, meanwhile, was battling breast cancer.
“During her last hours or last minutes, we were in the hospital and then she wasn't coherent na. [Then] I hit a high fever. As in biglang-taas [na] lagnat. At that moment, my grandmother was able to hold my mom's hand pa nag-communicate sila nang konti and then when she passed [away], my fever went away. Parang sinabi lumipat sandali ‘yung sickness sakin,” Ryan said.
According to psychic Chito Mercader, what happened to Ryan and his grandmother could be an energy connection.
“Iyong kanilang life force nag-join. Nag-connect sa kaniya yung lola niya so mararamdaman ito as an increase in energy. So para kang nilalagnat, he explained. “Ang nangyari dito, parang hinug lang siya ng lola niya. At the same time, ‘yung lola [niya] nakakuha ng live force sa kaniya kaya nakagalaw ng konti.”
Haunted house?
Three years after “Misteryo” last aired, Ryan still had unexplainable encounters. Now, in his own humble abode.
Ryan has been living in his home in Parañaque City for almost six years where in his garden lay two mango trees.
At first, nothing out of the ordinary occurred. But when he employed a helper who claims to have a third eye, things got pretty crazy.
“Merong batang babae or something na kinakausap niya raw pero hindi siya pinapansin. I guess one night wala kami rito, I guess natakot yung mga kasambahay ko, nagkalat ng asin sa bahay ‘yung helper na ‘yun,” Ryan said.
Then, Ryan’s daughter, Catalina started getting sick every day. He and his wife, Cathy, tried every possible measure just to make their daughter feel better, even if it meant doing things they never believed in the first place.
“I was hopeless na baka may something talaga, so ‘yun parang kahit ano na lang. [Nanghingi ako] ng tulong kay Mr. Roy Alvarez...para gumaling,” Cathy said.
Ryan consulted the late Roy Alvarez, who was believed to have a third eye and can communicate with other entities. Alvarez advised Ryan to offer a cup of brandy for the elements.
“Just leave it there overnight, next day take it throw it away. Kasi parang kukunin lang daw ‘yung essence of the brandy. But if I throw it away I have to be careful where I throw it kasi kung madilaan nang aso or whoever, makainom lang ng konti magkakasakit din daw sila or something bad will happen to them,” Ryan said.
But Ryan, being naturally stubborn, did not follow Roy’s advice. Instead, he confronted the alleged entities in his garden.
“So lumabas ako dito ng bahay ko ng 3 a.m., the witching hour and supposedly when all elements are alive. Hindi ko naman inaway nang todo. I just said if you want to start something, [kung] gusto n’yong makipag-away, wag n’yong awayin yung bata. ‘Andito ko ngayon, ako’ng awayin ninyo.” he shared.
After that incident, Catalina started to feel better and things settled down in the household.
“You've learned to live with them?” Rhea asks.
“I guess you could put it that way. Basta wala na lang pakialamanan di ba?” Ryan said.
Ryan’s only fear
Ryan has been to various haunted places. He has seen and heard things beyond scientific and logical explanation. But there is one single thing that Ryan fears the most.
“For me, wala, really. I can do whatever you want me to do, anything. [But] when my family is involved, [ibang usapan na ‘yon]. ‘Yung [kapag] mga mahal ko [na] sa buhay [ang apektado],” Ryan said.
Every one of us has his or her own story of mystery. It can be something paranormal or just a product of our imaginative minds. Nevertheless, we can never deny the possibility that we are not alone in this planet. What can we do is to always be respectful and prayerful- the only key to to live with ‘them’ peacefully.
