Tinaguriang Fruit Basket Capital of the Philippines ang Davao City.
“Smells like hell, but tastes like heaven,” karaniwang ganito ilarawan ang tinaguriang king of tropical fruit… ang durian!

Davao has been known as the fruit basket Capital of the Philippines. The bulk supply of fruits in the country is grown in the province.
This fruit smells like hell, but tastes like heaven, this is how people usually describe this known king of tropical fruit called durian. It has a distinct smell that is usually unpleasant; but this is one of the prides of Davao City because of its sweet and yummy taste. And in order for others to appreciate the fruit, Davaoenos made some products with durian such as durian cheesecake, durian pie, durian jam and durian candies.
One of the commonly seen fruit in the market here is pomelo. Because the yummiest fruit is from Davao City! This is also mixed with different dishes such as Pomelo spring rolls, no-bake pomelo cheesecake, pomelo gello and pomelo sorbet with pomelo tempura.
Another fruit that is also found in Davao is the famous queen of tropical fruits, mangosteen. The slightly sweet and sour taste of mangosteen can be comsumed by just opening the fruit, or it can also be mixed with dishes. This is suitable with other traditional dish and gourmet recipes like tuna kinilaw with mangosteen granite, sautéed mangosteen and milkfish sinigang in mangosteen.
