'Laging Gagaling', dokumentaryo ni Howie Severino, ngayong Sabado sa 'I-Witness'

Lahat Gagaling!

LAHAT GAGALING!

The Philippines has one of the worst performing educational systems in the world. Then it got even worse during the long nationwide school closure due to the
pandemic.
Distance learning was no substitute for face-to-face interaction. Some groups took matters into their own hands, and developed creative approaches to teach children where they lived and inspire a love of learning despite the dire conditions.
Howie Severino and his documentary team profiled several of these efforts, driven mostly by passionate volunteers.
In Barangay Napindan in Taguig City, they shadow a kariton full of books and school supplies as it moves through a community gathering children for street learning.
In Barras, Rizal, a young schoolteacher mobilizes his former students to create original coloring storybooks to get out-of-school kids interested in reading and art.
And in Culiat, the key to an explosion of interest in reading was simply repainting and improving the school library, and a teacher who formed a Library Club.
In the season of giving, our documentary, “Lahat Gagaling”, is the story of people who give their time and share their ingenuity the whole year round. ###
