I-WITNESS: ANG HULING PAG-IBIG NI RIZAL
23RD ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL
HOST: HOWIE SEVERINO
AIRING: NOVEMBER 5, 2022
RIZAL’S LAST LOVE
When Rizal was exiled in Dapitan, far from anything that was familiar, he made the most of it. He quickly set up a way of life that can still be a model for Filipinos today. But he also found love.
Love actually fueled his endeavors his entire life: love for his family and for the nation that was then being born.
But in Dapitan, he also discovered a romantic love that became domestic bliss, and it cast a glow over his other passions: the school for young boys that taught swimming in addition to academics, a medical practice that didn’t turn down poor patients, and his explorations of the rich natural environment around him.
His life seemed nearly complete in Dapitan. Yet he chose to leave it on a journey that would end with his death. Why did he leave?
After documentaries on Rizal in Europe, Laguna, and America, Howie Severino and his documentary team finally tick off Dapitan on their bucket list and produce the heartbreaking story of the sweet and tragic last four years of his life.
“Ang Huling Pag-ibig ni Rizal” (Rizal’s Last Love) airs this Saturday, November 5, 10:30pm as the first special episode for I-Witness’ 23rd Anniversary.#
