ENGLISH VERSION

For many COVID survivors, every breath is a blessing.  With the sudden spike of COVID cases that began last March, oxygen has become a prime commodity for survival.  There came a point when oxygen tanks in the Philippines were hard to come by, and until now prices of oxygen tanks have gone up.

But what about family members who also need oxygen yet suffer from conditions beyond COVID 19?  Tina Panganiban-Perez looks into this segment of society-- patients who are oxygen dependent but cannot afford the high prices of oxygen tanks and refills.

She meets the family of 12-year-old Jammier who has been oxygen dependent for the past 3 years.  Jammier suffers from multiple conditions that has kept him bound to his bed ever since he was a few months old.  His only lifeline now are the tanks of medical oxygen that he consumes day in and day out.  With the high cost of oxygen, how will Jammier and low-income families like his, survive?

“Palimos ng Hangin” airs this Saturday, May 29, 2021, 10:15pm on I-Witness. #
