“REMEMBER ME”
Dokumentaryo ni Sandra Aguinaldo
May 9, 2015
English version:
In 2012, I-Witness featured the stories of the Kopino --- children born from Filipina mothers and Korean fathers. Most of these children were left behind by their fathers, many of them growing up thinking there is a part of them that is missing.
Such is the case of Lorie who was born and raised here in the Philippines. Her mother was only seven months pregnant when she left Korea to go back home. Now 15 years old, Lorie has reconnected with her father and he has expressed interest in seeing her in Korea.
Maimai on the other hand, is another Kopino who has been dreaming of seeing her father. It has been six years since she last saw him. After a stroke, her father was deported back to Korea where he now stays in a hospital for care. But unlike Lorie, Maimai’s father has been in constant contact with her, sending her loving letters from his hospital bed. They promised that one day they will see each other again. Just before Maimai’s 18th birthday, fate will intervene to fulfill that promise. Maimai will fly to Korea to be reunited with her father.
This Saturday, Sandra Aguinaldo shares the touching stories of Lorie and Maimai in their journey to find their roots and the love of an absent parent . I-Witness presents “Remember Me”, on GMA-7, after Celebrity Bluff.
