Clown

Episode on October 27, 2008 Monday late night after Saksi Clowns are the life of many children's parties. But who knows about what lies behind the happy faces? Howie Severino and his I-Witness team immerse themselves in the world of clowns, focusing on a single community composed of single parents, working students, and struggling entertainers who dream of professionalizing their craft and even working as OFCs -- Overseas Filipino Clowns. Howie learns that clowns are not much different from ordinary Pinoys -- their joy shines through the hardships, camaraderie is a way of life, and their livelihood is riven with rivalries. But they are also different: once in costume they are transformed into playful characters who can momentarily forget about their problems while making kids and their parents laugh. But, they are sometimes hurt by aggressive children. Howie himself becomes "Howie" the Clown for a day and struggles to entertain at a party, providing yet another window for understanding our world and our times. His documentary, "Payaso", airs this Monday late night over GMA-7's I-Witness.

Simple lang daw ang trabaho ng mga payaso-ang magpasaya ng mga bata. Pero sa likod ng kanilang ngiti may masasalimuot na kuwento ng buhay. Nakisalamuha si Howie Severino sa isang grupo ng mga makabagong payaso. Makulay ang buhay ng mga payasong ito -- may single parent, working students at mga entertainers na gustong maging propesyon ang kanilang trabaho. Ang ilan pa sa kanila, nangangarap maging OFCs o Overseas Filipino Clowns. Sa dokumentaryong ito lumalabas na hindi nagkakalayo ang buhay ng mga payaso sa mga ordinaryong Pilipino ... nangingibabaw ang kanilang kasayahan kahit mahirap ang buhay. Pero sa ganitong trabaho, matindi rin ang kumpetisyon sa ibang grupo ng mga payaso. Sa oras na magbihis payaso na ang mga bida, ibayong sigla ang dulot nila sa mga bata at matatanda! Nakakalimutan daw nila ang kanilang problema. Pero tila problema rin ang mga agresibong bata na nanakit sa kanila habang nagtatanghal! Naranasan ni Howie na maging payaso sa isang party. Sinubukang magpasaya ni "Howie" ng mga batang bisita pero maging matagumpay kaya siya? Abangan ngayong Lunes ng hatinggabi sa I-Witness ng GMA.
