Dinadayo sa Ilocos Region ang kanilang mga ipinagmamalaking pagkain gaya ng dinengdeng, bagnet at longganisa. Ang sikreto raw sa binabalik-balikang sarap ng mga putaheng ito, ang kanilang bawang na binansagang “Ilocos White.” Mas maliit man sa karaniwang bawang, mas malasa naman daw ito. Mayroon din silang native na sibuyas na kung tawagin naman lasona.

Pero kung may maituturing daw na “King of All Spices”, 'wag na raw kokontra sa paminta. Halos lahat kasi ng lutuin, binubudburan nito. Ika nga, “Add pepper to taste!” Pero I Juander, saang bansa nga ba natutunan ni Juan ang paggamit ng paminta? At saan nga bang halaman ito nakukuha? Tourists travel to Ilocos Region for their famous dishes like dinengdeng, bagnet and longganisa. The secret to the yummy dishes is their garlic known as “Ilocos White”. It is smaller than the normal size of garlic, but it is more flavorful. They also have native onion called lasona.

As they always say, “add pepper to taste”. Pepper is probably the best candidate to be the “King of all spices”. This is because almost all dishes, can be sprinkled with pepper.
