Exquisite cuisine ng España, titikman sa 'The Atom Araullo Specials'

Sa kauna-unahang European adventure ng The Atom Araullo Specials, lilipad si Atom sa bansang Spain at mapapasabak sa isang matinding food trip! Ang kanyang travel goal, hanapin ang mga exquisite Spanish cuisine na may kinalaman daw sa ating pagka-Pilipino!

Ang kanyang first stop -- ang medieval city ng Segovia! Dito raw kasi matitikman ang missing link ng ating lechon. Ang bida sa mga handaan dito, ang Spanish version ng lechon na kung tawagin ay cochinillo! Bibigyan din ng special access si Atom para makapasok sa kusina ng Meson de Candido kung saan nagmula raw ang cochinillo. Dadayuhin din niya ang blockbuster na kainan sa Madrid, ang pinakamatandang restaurant sa buong mundo na 293 years old na --- ang Sobrino de Botin. At sa restaurant na ito, Pinoy lang naman ang kanilang Master Cook!

G rin si Atom na magtutungo sa Valencia, ang tinaguriang “Home of the Paella”. Ang kanyang food quest, alamin ang original ingredients ng authentic paella. Clue: hindi raw seafood! At hindi rin pwedeng mawala ang spice nilang saffron na isa sa pinakamahal na pampalasa sa buong mundo! Ang isang kilo lang naman nito, nagkakahalaga ng 200,000 pesos!  May meet and greet din si Atom sa loding Spanish chef na si Toni Montoliu na may paandar daw na technique. Sa pagluluto niya kasi ng paella, kailangan daw gamitin ang tenga?!

Mag-aapprenctice din si Atom bilang cortador o ham slicer sa Madrid na isa lang naman sa mga highest paying jobs sa Spain. Ang magtuturo sa kanya, ang kauna-unahang Maestro Cortador Filipino! But wait there’s more! Alam n’yo bang puwede kayong kumita ng 2,000 euros kada event sa paghihiwa ng ham? Ang hihiwain lang naman kasi -- ang heaven sa sarap na world’s finest ham! An extraordinary adventure awaits Atom Araullo on his flight to Spain as he gives us a head start on some of the best cuisines the world has ever tasted. Not only will he reveal the mysteries of these recipes, but he will also discover secrets deeply rooted to us Filipinos.

Here in the Philippines, we boast the center of every celebration in our table, the world-famous lechon. But can this Spanish cuisine called ‘cochinillo’ be the missing link in our Filipino lechon? To find out the answer, Atom visits the medieval city of Segovia as he joins the chefs of the Meson de Candido where cochinillo was originally made. Atom also travels to Madrid and visits the oldest restaurant in the world, the Sobrino de Botin, where he meets a kababayan who will teach him how to make a delightful cochinillo.

Atom also goes to Valencia, the “Home of the Paella,”! Valencia offers the authentic Spanish paella and its secret to an exquisite paella? It is not seafood, but rather a meat that many Filipinos may have not savoured yet and the spices that can’t be undermined, just like saffron which costs 200,000 pesos per kilo! Many recipes offer special techniques to make the best out of the best ingredients, this is what Toni Montoliu and Atom will practice using neither their eyes, nose, nor tongue, but with their ears!

What is a Spanish trip without a little apprenticeship? Atom learns how to become a cortador or ham slicer in Madrid that is considered as one of the highest paying jobs in Spain! He will be mentored by the first ever Maestro Cortador Filipino! But wait there’s more, did you know that you can earn up to 2,000 euros on an event by just slicing a ham? But this isn’t just any other ham, because Jamon Iberico, is known as the world’s finest ham! This Spanish gem deserves its title because a leg of this ham can go as high as one hundred thousand pesos!
