Juan Tamad: GMA’s new comedy series pilots on August 23

Meet Juan D. Magbangon – also known as Juan Tamad – the central character in GMA’s newest comedy series. Juan is the laziest boy in town, always on the lookout for creative ways to escape from household chores, school assignments and later on, work responsibilities.  Popular comedian Sef Cadayona steps flawlessly into the role of Juan.

Only one person gives Juan a reason to get up from under the guava tree, Marie Guiguinto – literally the girl next door.  Marie is a dancer, debater, class valedictorian and Juan's ultimate crush.  The young achiever - portrayed by gorgeous Kapuso actress Max Collins - pays no attention to her lazy neighbor.

Complicating it all is a family feud.  Juan's parents (played by Roi Vinzon and Marissa Sanchez) and Marie's folks (played by Gene Padilla and Melanie Marquez) areconstantly at each other's throats ... and fighting over the fruits of the guava tree that stands between their two properties.

What Juan is willing to do for love is at the heart of this funny series.

In his attempts to capture Marie's heart, Juan goes beyond everyone's expectations.  He becomes a Youtube sensation, invents a viral game app ... and unwittingly exposes corruption in the Philippine Senate.

A fresh, modern take on a Pinoy classic -Juan Tamad's pilot is penned by Carlos Palanca hall of famer Rody Vera and directed by veteran comedian Soxie Topacio.  Juan Tamad launches on Sunday, August 23, only on GMA7.
