Front Row Documentarists win big in the 2016 NCCA Ani ng Dangal
Front Row, one of GMA Network's award-winning documentary programs has been selected as the sole recipient of this year's National Commission for Culture and the Arts' Ani ng Dangal for Broadcast Arts.
The citation was given as recognition to Front Row's international achievement in winning multiple awards for its documentary on ALS ( Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) in 2015. The poignant episode took viewers beyond the viral Ice Bucket Challenge and showed the real story behind the disease through the eyes of ALS patients and their families.

The documentary reaped international honors winning a Gold World Medal as Best Public Affairs Program in the 2015 New York Festivals, a Gold Camera Award as well as the One World in the US International Film & Video Festival (USIFVF). The NCCA recognized these wins which brought pride and honor to the Philippines.
Meanwhile, two Front Row documentarists were also awarded by the NCCA. Creative Consultant Joseph Israel Laban was cited in the Cinema Category for "Nuwebe," a film he directed for the Cinemalaya in 2013. The film made him win as Best Director in the Asean International Film Festival and Awards held in Malaysia in 2015. Another Front Row Execitive Producer, Roderick Cabrido, was cited for the same category. Cabrido also directed a film for the Cinemalaya entitled, "Children Show" in 2014. The film won the Special Jury Award in the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal in 2015 and made Cabrido win as Best Director in the Fantastic Cinema Film Festival in Arkansas, USA in 2015.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts recognizes the highest achievements in the categories of Cinema, Dance, Drama, Literature, Music, Visual Arts and Broadcast Arts through its Ani ng Dangal.
